I never owned an indoor grill made by Ronco or George F so I won't be comparing the Waring to anything else. This review is based upon an inspection of the parts and the cooking of several foods.

Waring makes professional products so they know what quality is. Don't let the word "Pro" fool you into thinking this is a restaurant-quality commercial product -- It isn't but the quality is very good. My initial observations:

* The grill is heavy-duty enough for home kitchen use. The body is metal, the controls have a quality feel, the heating elements are thick and the grilling surfaces seem pretty good.
* It takes a while to heat-up but once it does it cooks at a consistent rate.
* The free-floating top grill doesn't really float so you have to free-it-up manually. Keep in mind that the grill plates are really hot and extend outside of the body so a pot holder is in order.
* There are two sets of grill plates: one set with ridges and one set that...

2. Purchased January 2010
This is the first counter-top indoor grill I have owned. My husband purchased a Geo. Foreman for Christmas but this one seemed to have better ratings and was priced $20 cheaper with Free Shipping so we decided to try. I don't have much to compare to since it's the first one I've owned. Seems fairly easy to use. Grids are easy to take out to clean. One drawback is that since the top lid rests on top of the meat if you are cooking meat that is more than 1/4" thick the grease splatters out around the edges and leaves a mess all over the countertop. The little plastic cups that are provided to catch the grease are cheesy. I don't see myself using this on a regular basis. Using as a griddle it's OK but a little small even for 2 people.

Great grill
I paid $79.99 in 12/09 and have been very pleased so far. The grill heats quickly and when ready provides even heat distribution. The food cooks and looks great. I especially like the burgers that are crusty on the outside and juicy inside. I scrape the plates, while still warm, with the plastic scraper that comes with the grill and when cool put them in the dishwasher and they clean up well. The plates are very easy to take off and put on.

1. Best Appliance Ever
Have used the Steamwave for 1 1/2 years and it's fantastic. Incredible job at steaming fish. Delicious and easy. I use this at least 3x per week and it is so much healthier than other methods of cooking. As long as you keep up with the basic maintenance of discarding the unused water after each use (a 30 second task), and de-scaling it every few months (an automated process) it will last.

2. Almost great
Unit arrived one day early in good condition. Understandably there is no turntable but it seems to heat evenly when using microwave only which is, of course, it's main use. I have steamed vegies with steam only and I'm completely satisfied. I expected issues when steaming, since the food is placed directly on one of the included stainless trays and the whole cavity is filled with steam, but it works well. I've used " Healthy Cook ", which uses micro-steam-grill in an automatic fashion, twice with good results. Grilling only hasn't been used yet, updates on that and the results of a " marshmallow test " for micro heat distribution later........ My one reason for not giving it five stars is the puny audio of the notification tone. It is very low volume, quite easy to miss.... At this point I'm pleased with the purchase.

WARNING
It is a must that I warn you that this steamwave oven has a recall on it that has not been corrected yet. I purchased this in July and by November it was no longer working. I enjoyed the use of it for the months that it work, so when it ceased operating I had it repaired at a sharp repair center on sharps dime.

The repair shop had it for 2 months waiting on parts. I got it back after a long wait and at first use another problem with the oven arose. Not the same problem mind you.

The repair company said they would come pick it up and return it once it was fixed. I just dropped it off and they returned it in less then a week.

After a week of use, the steamer started to leak from behind the oven. Mind you, it is suppose the drain from the front of the oven. I contacted sharp and was told that they did not had any new ones available but did have some refurbished ones. As I mentioned I enjoyed what the oven could do when it did work, so I agreed...

1. Restaurant style coffee on tap...
I should have gotten this coffee maker years ago. After all the "High End" coffee makers that promise the "best" coffee and end up failing after a year or so just after the warranty expires, I finally just got the Bunn and am so glad I did. It just makes the best coffee we've ever had at home. It's not so tall that it won't fit under the kitchen cabinet. As we've only had it for a month I cannot rate on longevity, but the machine is very basic with no timers and such to malfunction and it is made to be repaired not replaced. Parts are easily obtainable, but I don't think that will be an issue for years. My significant other was leery of no timer to have coffee ready in the morning, but has come to realize that 3 1/2 minutes isn't that long to wait. Pour water in, coffee comes out. I saw a review where an appliance timer was utilized to conserve energy as the machine is "on" all the time. The heater isn't on except to keep the water at brewing temperature so, consequently, cycles...

2. Worth the money
Huge difference between this model and the Bunn home pots I have used. Zero problems with unit. The instructions are terrible and there was a metal rod in the box for which I can find no use. Nothing about it anywhere in photos or instructions. Regardless, the unit works great. Width is not any wider than a standard pot, but depth and height are considerably more. Measure before you ofder.

Disappointed in Bunn
I was tired of purchasing cheap, Chinese made plastic coffee makers so I took the plunge and purchased a Bunn A10 machine. Unfortunately, I had to return it because the coffee wasn't coming out hot enough. The A10 was exchanged for the VP 17 model.
Along with the VP17, I also purchased the stainless steel brew basket to avoid all plastic for health reasons. I am once again disappointed to find the VP 17 brewing weak coffee that is also not that hot. Considering the price of these machines, coffee should not be room temperature after adding just a bit of milk. After researching the web, I read some posts that mentioned a flow restrictor spray head as a resolution to the weak coffee. I contacted Bunn and explained my two issues. The Technical Support person I spoke to did not offer to send me a flow restrictor spray head telling me that if the temperature wasn't hot enough the coffee would be brewed weak. He had me open the machine to make sure the thermostat was turned all the way...

1. Perfect for Smoothies
Although it comes with various blending and dough-making attachments, I very specifically purchased this item to make smoothies, and it does this extremely well.

The Ninja Kitchen System Pulse comes with a power base, pitcher, two single serving containers, and lids and blades for all three. I find the single serving containers the most useful. You simply put your ingredients into the container, screw on a lid that holds a small blade, and place the container on the power base. Press down on the top of the container and within a minute or two you have a very nicely made smoothie.

Even so, the Ninja Kitchen System Pulse has a few drawbacks. You can't simply turn it on and walk away for a moment: you have to press down on the container to operate the power base. No pressure, no power. It is also extremely noisy and sounds a bit like a jet is about to take off from your kitchen counter top. But I have used it several times a day and find that it holds up well...

I was given a Ninja last year for my birthday. Love it. I am able to grind up beets to juice, hard to find a machine to do. I put in chunks of beet and water and looks like baby food when it's done.
The juicing of the beets helps me daily get my vegetables drinkable. Would recommend this machine.
When doing just a smoothie ice takes a lot longer to crush up, sometimes ending up with large ice in the drink. That would be the only problem I have found.

Does not work better for fruit & kale smoothies than a $39 Oster blender
This item was touted highly by others to chop up anything. I do fruit smoothies for breakfast, and add a cup of chopped kale to make it healthy.

This item has not done one bit better job of chopping than my previous Oster blender that I bought on sale for $29.
You have to use baby kale or the kale comes out in tiny chunky bits whose texture ruins the smoothie. Hardly smooth.
It's also bigger and bulkier for storage and use. If you take the lid off to pour, the blades will pour right out, if you have to turn it up to pour the entire contents out. The one I bought does come with an extra cup you can use and take and carry with you. The cup I use has a straw and is much easier to use than this one that came with it, that you blend and take and drink all from the same cup. Some people like it, but I don't use it.

Save your money unless you're making more than smoothies. Don't spend the money. Its $100 I could have saved. Now you can too.
