Viking Professional 7 -quart Stand Mixer, Black

Bargain Viking Professional 7 -quart Stand Mixer, Black
==================================================================

With 1000 watts of power, the Viking professional stand mixers provides enough brawn to knead any dough into submission. But they do have a tender side, with a range of settings delicate enough for even the most sensitive meringue. Designed to meet the needs of a pro, it offers a rugged, all-metal gear transmission. This 7-quart mixer comes with exclusive V-style stainless steel beater, stainless steel whip, stainless steel dough hook, and stainless steel mixing bowl with ergonomic cast-stainles...
  • Includes brushed stainless steel mixing bowl with handle, exclusive V beater, stainless steel whip, and stainless steel dough hook
  • Powerful 1000-watt motor with metal gear transmission. 3 multi-function power outlets for wide range of attachments; primary, low and high-speed
  • Tilt-back head locks in up and down position
  • Viking exclusive, patented pending Easy-Glide rear wheels for easy maneuverability around the countertop.
  • 12 Speeds plus Stirring and Max

This Stand Mixers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Great choice for a bread baker
I've owned a Kitchenaid mixer for 20+ years. I make bread at least once per week. I'd wanted to try this mixer for a long time, but since my Kitchenaid refuses to die, I'd felt guilty spending the money on the Viking. I had an opportunity to try the Viking in a cooking course, and after seeing how powerful this mixer is, decided to take the plunge.

Pros:

1. The power - the Kitchenaid just cannot compare. The Viking can knead large amounts of the toughest doughs in very short time. In fact, breads that I was accustomed to needing 1/2 hour or more mixing and kneading in the KA took a third of that time in the Viking.

2. The attachments - they are big, and they are heavy. The KA attachments seem very flimsy in comparison. The whip also has more "tines", so that meringues seem to take a much shorter amount of time.

3. The "stir" setting - Bread bakers who use the KA will really appreciate this one. The stir, or slowest speed on the Viking is...

2. Commercial like mixer without paying commercial price
After extensive research on the web and through friends' experiences, I decided to opt for this 7-qt mixer. Two other major brands I considered are Hobart and of course, KitchenAid. The DeLonghi mixer comes close to specs and features, but is also marketed under Kenwood and Hamilton Beach. I sure wouldn't want to pay premium price for a Hamilton Beach. The Hobart is a true commercial grade mixer but overkill for the occasional home use, not to mention at lease twice the cost. The KA doesn't have the 1000 wattage or the professional feel like the Viking 7-qt mixer. One thing my wife appreciates about this unit is that it has rear wheels for easy maneuverability around the countertop - the average stand mixer weights over 20 lbs so this feature definitely helps. Although the availability of accessories for this mixer is few, however, I do notice that the included beater, whisk, and dough hook are well-made, stainless steel attachments (not plastic coating over metal). Overall, the...

The machine works pretty well. I really have no complaints it is just not exactly what I needed. I needed something that can make a cross between a blizzard and milkshake. I put bigger stuff in my "shakes" that this can not break up and it is a little loud for my establishment.

  • 3 stainless steel jars
  • Power: 750-watts
  • 1-1/4 liter multi-purpose jar
  • 3-speed options
  • 110-volts 60hz for usa, canada

This Stand Mixers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Beware: The mixier only operates at 300W Power. Average Indian Mixie
Update Oct/2012
I recently bought a Kill-a-Watt power meter and connected this Mixier and it is only using 300W power and not 750 Watts as advertised. I always have wondered why a 750 watts mixer grinder is not very powerful and now I know the reason. Consumer's are misinformed by either the marketer or the manufacturer.

PROS:
1) The cheapest Indian Mixer grinder I found in Amazon (I bought it for $80).
2) It has three jars which is useful for most of Indian family needs.
3) The seller delivered the product on time and as promised.

Cons:
1) This Mixer trips a lot (even with a small amount of load), which is a not good thing. However there is a trip switch in the bottom which we can use to temporarily enable it again.
2) The product as it delivered to our home appeared as if it is manufactured at least 2-3 years ago. It appeared old (but not used) and the washers in the jars smelled like old ones.
3) The Mixer advertises as 750...

2. CRAPPY! no.. no... CRAPPIEST Grinder ever
I am really surprised this thing got good reviews.
The blades of both of my Jars are stuck after one time use. They don't move no matter what I do... Reason the grinding particles are getting stuck in the thing that spins the blade. Once they dry up there is no where to move.

Lost $100 bucks on this thing.

It trips most of the time saying overload.. I am this close to throwing it out. Only thing stopping me are the $ 100 I spent.

I am able to use only 1 jar that too with lot of pouring hot water , trying to check on the blades if they can move before I start grinding... The blades don't move smoothly after 30 min of this exercise. Now I put it on the mixie turn it on with water only before the blades become free... The worst thing is no matter how much you clean before and after the blades always become hard to move.

My review in one sentence.... CRAPPIEST Mixer grinder ever

Good Mixer, does the job well
This is identical to mixers we use in India so does all the heavy grinding that blenders cannot. Happy with purchase.

Breville USA BEM600XL Handy Stand Mixer

Cheapest Breville USA BEM600XL Handy Stand Mixer
==================================================================

The Breville BEM600XL Handy Stand Mixer is how you ensure exceptional results using one mixer. A Better Hand Mixer: spring loaded, soft tipped beaters create deeper hand mixing for incresed volume. A Smarter Stand Mixer: Two independent motors spin the bowl against the beating action to combine even the thickest mix.
  • Fully Detachable Hand Mixer
  • One motor drives the beaters while a second independent motor drives the bowl, allowing power to be put where it is needed
  • Heavy-duty V-groove spring loaded beaters with patented soft tips ensure excellent mixing results
  • Electronic load sensing for heavy mixes
  • BPA Free Materials

This Stand Mixers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Excellent value, works great!
We had been shopping stand mixers for quite some time. But couldn't justify the $300+++ price for most of them. They might be great, but that's a lot of money for something that may not used much except during the holidays. We recently saw this mixer and thought it may fill the bill for us. We have bought a number Breville small electrics and all have been very good quality. So, we ordered one from Amazon. We have used it a few times now and find it easy to use and clean up. It has done everything we have tried very well. The controls are simple to use and understand. The beaters and bowl are easy to clean as well. Yes, you don't have all the attachments available like the expensive models, but look at your usage. Do you need all that?
This is a good buy.

2. Nice to be able to stir
I just got this. Used it twice so far, with very different batters - one thin, one cookie thick. Second use was much more comfortable than the first. I'm learning.

I'm a big Breville fan, so it pains me to drop this a star, but this little mixer just can't hold a candle to a Kitchenaid, which is a brand I actually don't like. And, to be honest, seeing this from a review-reader's point of view, it's probably not deserving of more than 3 stars. I needed the small size and weight, so it's uniquely useful to me.

Pros

--LOVE being able to rummage around in the batter and stir stuff, unlike with the Kitchenaids (that DON'T get everything mixed)
--Steel bowl is nice shape for working
--Love Breville's plugs with the hole for unplugging.
--Small enough to work in my little RV. Light enough to move about from storage. The only practical size stand mixer I found.
--Supplied spatula fits well with bowl and is sturdy...

Very pleased with the mixer
I have used this several times and I love that the bowl has its own motor. Mixes great. There is plenty of room in the bowl, but it is smaller than I thought it might be. I would buy this again, especially for the price.

Westinghouse SA61950 Stand Mixer, Stainless Steel

Cheapest Westinghouse SA61950 Stand Mixer, Stainless Steel
==================================================================

Westinghouse 3-1/2-quart Stand Mixer is driven by a powerful 450-watt motor with 4-speed fingertip controls with a pulse feature that allows you to handle any mixing need your recipes require. With the three included mixing attachments, you can mix, whip and even knead dough and take your baking to the next level. The Westinghouse Stand Mixer features a planetary mixing action that provides a shorter mixing time by simultaneously spinning on its own axis and traveling a circular path around the ...
  • 450-watt of power
  • Planetary mixing action creates more contact with the beater and the bowl reducing the need to scrape the ingredients down
  • Large 3-1/2-quart stainless steel locking mixing bowl because the beater is doing all of the motion, not a moving dish that your bowl could slip off of
  • Instructional DVD on how to use your new mixer
  • Pulse feature as well as 4 speeds at your fingertips for precision mixing

This Stand Mixers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. This is everything I expected, and more!
This review is going to fly in the face of everyone who said in their reviews, "I wanted a Kitchenaid" or "It's not a Kitchenaid"... One thing is for certain, it's not a $300 Kitchenaid.

Here's what I have discovered so far. I just received this and used it already and will modify this review later if I see it necessary.

1. It's beautiful. It doesn't take up a full acre of counter space. I plan to keep mine on the counter as soon as I whip up a cover for it.

2. It's heavy! The sheer weight of it tells me that this machine is not messing around!

3. SUCTION CUPS!!! That's right, I said suction cups. There are four suction cups on the bottom that suck right onto the counter. Because of that, there's not even a hint of a wiggle when it's working.

4. It's sounds great! It's not whisper soft, no... but it doesn't sound like a helicopter taking off in my kitchen, either. It has that "I'm not a pansy piece of crap" appliance sound. It...

2. So far so good. Lots of power, great price.
It was two weeks before Christmas and all through the house there was a horrible wailing. From our old stand mixer there arose such a clatter that we surely knew what was the matter.... Looking around for a replacement, we really didn't want to spend a lot on a mixer just before Christmas. The Westinghouse SA61950 has almost no on-line reviews yet, but it looked good and seemed like it might be up to our use which includes making bread at least weekly.

So far so good, plenty of power to finish up kneading the bread without hand work. The bread hook is a great design and easy to get on and off. The mixer has what they call "Planetary mixing action" which means that the beater moves around in the bowl to get to all sides. This a good thing, I can't imagine why anyone would make a stand mixer and not have either the mixer head or the bowl move.

The box does have a big disclaimer "for home use only" so it does suggest that they at least don't want to warranty the...

Better for me than a KitchenAid!
I have always wanted a KitchenAid Mixer. I have also always wanted to learn to bake from scratch. So I decided I was going to get into Cupcakes. But I needed a stand mixer. My little Procter Silex 125-watt Hand Mixer just wasn't gonna do the trick. As I started to research KitchenAid mixers and looking at my budget, I finally came to realization that since I'm new to the baking adventure and since I was unsure how long this "phase" could last, it wasn't in my best interest to plunk down $350 on a KitchenAid mixer that may or may not drip oil into my batter (which in research was found to be a VERY common issue for KitchenAid). So I researched mixers over a week time period. I came across this Westinghouse and was immediately smitten with it because it had the same "style" as KitchenAid as far as using a paddle over normal mixer beaters. It had all the wattage as the KitchenAid. The basic difference outside of cosmetics was that the Westinghouse mixer is a straight up mixer...

Cuisinart HSM-70 Power Advantage 7-Speed Handheld/Stand Mixer

Bargain Cuisinart HSM-70 Power Advantage 7-Speed Handheld/Stand Mixer
==================================================================

Equipped with 220 watts of power, this convenient appliance functions as both a handheld mixer and a stand mixer for exceptional versatility in the kitchen. Use the seven-speed hand mixer on its own or mount it to the sturdy mixing stand for hands-free mixing. The unit's stainless-steel bowl holds up to 3-1/2 quarts and spins on a turntable to ensure all ingredients get thoroughly mixed together. Accessories include flat mixing beaters, dough hooks, and a professional chef's whisk. The flat mixi...
  • Versatile 220-watt combination handheld/stand mixer with 7 speed settings
  • 3-1/2-quart stainless-steel bowl spins to ensure thorough mixing; 1-step power switch with LED display
  • SmoothStart function; tilt-back head; easy-release hand-mixer button; dishwasher-safe parts
  • Includes flat mixing beaters, dough hooks, professional chef's whisk, and instruction book with recipes
  • Measures approximately 17-4/5 by 11-4/5 by 10-1/5 inches; 3-year limited warranty

This Stand Mixers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Excellent as a stepping stone
I recently purchased this mixer because I was questioning whether or not to purchase the much-celebrated Kitchen-Aid Artisan Mixer. My reasoning: "for far less money, I'll purchase this mixer and see how often I really use it, and if it warrants a larger purchase in a year or two."
I opened the box and promptly made a batch of cookies which turned out delicious! Two weeks later I made cupcakes and the batter was COMPLETELY smooth, no lumps and NO handmixing. I really enjoy that the bowl spins while mixing, the power is substantial, and it is not a large appliance and can be left out on the counter if desired.
I haven't used the dough hooks yet, but plan to make pizza with it soon, perhaps I'll add to this review at that time.
For now, I am completely satisfied with this purchase and would definitely recommend it to occasional bakers who don't want to shell out three times as much $$ for something they will only use a few times a year.

2. It's working pretty well.
I just started working with this mixer. It's working pretty well for a hand/stand mixer. The only thing that may make other people consider other mixers is the fact that this one spins around the outside of the bowl. That leaves the ingredients in the center needing a little extra hand mixing, which is fine with this machine. I can detach the mixer from it's stand and just mix through the remaining ingredients.

It's working fabulously for me so far. It has a 3.5qt flat bottomed bowl, a spatula, 1 set of beaters, dough hooks and a bubble whisk. For the price it's great. I'm hoping this one will last. It's got the retro styling and is compact enough to stay on my counter without taking up too much space.

WORST MIXER I'VE EVER USED
I don't usually like to give negative comments on things and only do so when they are truly deserved. This mixer is useless as a stand mixer. I bake A LOT and am not able to use this a s a stand mixer when I am making any recipe other than something with the consistency of water. If you are going to let this mixer sit and gather dust in a cabinet then it can't do you any harm. If, however, you are actually looking for a mixer that you can use don't buy this one. The motor is pretty powerful but the design of the stand and beaters is really just bad. I've been baking for over 30 years and just retired a Krups hand/stand mixer after about 25 years that had a GREAT design. Too bad Krups doesn't still make it or I'd buy one. Anyway, this mixer doesn't turn the bowl. You have to do that. The turn mechanism is on the beater rather than the stand and the beaters are the old fashioned type that gets batter stuck in them which inhibits the turning mechanism. I've ended up either...

This Stand Mixers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. It Would Be Great If It Had No Competition
We have a KitchenAid stand mixer and an ancient, but quite serviceable, Oster food processor. The KitchenAid is an excellent stand mixer for heavy duty jobs. We have acquired a number of optional attachments over the years that make our KitchenAid stand mixer our go-to appliance for many different applications. For lighter duty activities such as simple mixing, we use either our Oster food processor or a hand mixer. I was quite excited to receive a Bodum Bistro electric stand mixer to see how well it compares to our KitchenAid and our Oster.

The Bistro is smaller than our KitchenAid, which initially seemed a benefit. However, the Bistro is so light that it has the possibility of moving during operation, except the Bistro also includes suction cup feet. The suction cup feet could be a drawback if your counters are insufficiently smooth for the suction cups to work. Furthermore, the suction cup feet require force to break the suction when lifting the mixer. Thus,...

2. Rivals Kithen Aid, Cusinart, Viking....
The is one of the newest stand mixer on the market. The BODUM Stand mixer 11381 BISTRO Stand mixer is a powerhouse, quality built to last, easy to operate. BODUM is aa well known company that has built high quality commercial appliances for years. This is their first stand mixer for home use. I now own three stand mixers, Kitchen Aid Artisan, Viking/Cusinart and this Bodum. My wife and I own and run a small catering business and know first hand how each operates.

It takes the best qualites of the top selling stand mixers and combines them to make the BODUM Bistro Electric Stand Mixer, 4.7-Liter. It borrows the ease of use, variety of colors and high standards of quality from Kitchen Aid. It borrows the new style, powerful motor from Viking/Cuisinart. This makes the best home stand mixer on the market. It runs quieter than the others with less vibration. It also has suction cups to help keep it even more stable. The 700-watt, 7 speed mixer with tilt-up head. Material is made...

Wonderful Mixer and Easy To Clean
I was thrilled to get this mixer to replace an old Sunbeam stand that I've has for years. I didn't use it much because it was a real pain to store and to use.

This product has a lot going for it once you get past the nauseating smell of whatever it is they packed it in. PEEEEEUUUUU! Once that dissapates and you get close enough to the box to unpack it you are good to go.

On the plus side this mixer is very heavy. The entire thing is a closed unit, which makes it so easy to clean. I just used it to make a key lime pie. I am a really messy cook, and in separating my eggs I had it everywhere. Even under the bowl. The area under the bowl is completely sealed in and once the bowl is removed it is an easy clean up. The included splash guard is a nice feature as well because it elimates the splatter and mess that can occur at high speed mixing.

I was impressed with the fact that the suction feet actually hold to my granite counters and when I was whipping at...

1. Trying to decide? This may help.
I have been doing a lot of research on KitchenAid Mixers. Below is some information I felt may be of use to others trying to decide on a new KitchenAid Mixer.

If you have questions regarding a KitchenAid Mixer or other KitchenAid product, the KitchenAid Forums are a good place to start. The questions are answered by users and KitchenAid Employees. KitchenAid Employees will have "KitchenAid" in front of their name ex. "KitchenAid_Sally"

To find the forums go to the KitchenAid Website, select "Customer Service" at the top, then select "Join KitchenAid Conversations" at the bottom of the page, then select "View all topics". There is a forum just for Stand Mixers. You can also try this address: forum.kitchenaid.com. You will find instructional videos and information on model numbers, accessories, features, adjustments, etc. There are user tips and recipes too. You must sign up for the forums to submit a question.

Is a standard model like the Artisan all I...

2. A work horse
I really wish people would read the instruction manual before complaining about things.

Yes, the mixer starts off slowly. This is called the soft start feature. it is intentional. The idea is the mixer starts slowly and ramps up to full speed. This keeps the ingredients from spraying all over the place.

Yes this mixer is louder than older KA mixers. It has an all metal gear set and they are louder than the older mixers that have a nylon gear.

I make on average about 6 loaves of bread each weekend, stiff French and Italian style dough. This mixer has never bogged down, quit or failed in any way in my use for nearly one year.

You will love the spiral dough hook and the wider bowl.

I own quite a few mixers, 38 to be precises(OK, I am a little nuts) and the 4 I uses regularly the Pro 5+ is the one I use most. You will be pleased. But please, read the instruction Manual.

There is no substitute
When you need the KitchenAid, there just is no substitute. This particular unit is at a very attractive price and is the 5-quart size (not the Artisan.) This means the bowl is raised and lowered with a lever while the bowl is placed on pins on the holding arms. It comes with a flat paddle, a dough hook and a whisk. All work extremely well and the motor is strong enough to plow through heavy doughs.

I use this generally for the following things:

1. Bread dough. With the dough hook, I make heavy whole-wheat bread. It takes the dough from the sticky stage to perfectly kneaded and there is no mess on the counter or hands.

2. Whipped egg whites. Making sure the bowl and whisk are perfectly clean and free of grease, you can whip egg whites in seconds.

3. The paddle is attached for cake batter. If I am making sponge cake, I start by whipping the whites, then putting them in a separate bowl and starting up the batter. Then I fold in the beaten...

KitchenAid KSB560RI 5 Speed Artisan Blender - Raspberry Ice

Deals for KitchenAid KSB560RI 5 Speed Artisan Blender - Raspberry Ice
==================================================================

In just seconds you can whip up thick smoothies, frozen drinks, chunky salsas and silky sauces with the KitchenAid 5-Speed Artisan Blender. The smart-looking blender is powerfully built with a 0.9 horsepower for back-to-back blending. The 56 oz. contoured pitcher slides ingredients into the blade for faster blending. The patented KitchenAid blender blade strikes at 4 planes for optimum performance. The commercial-grade polycarbonate pitcher is remarkably strong and lightweight and resists temper...

  • 56-oz shatter resistant blend and serve pitcher plus stay put lid
  • Dimensions - 15 3/16 x 7 1/4 x 9

This Stand Mixers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. A really Cheap Looking Kitchenaid
I don't know if the rave reviews of this product are written by people who aren't familiar with the best that Kitchenaid used to offer or if they are simply ignorant of what makes a good blender, but this is not it. I was excited about this blender as it's a beautiful color and was willing to "upgrade" my trusty yellow Kitchenaid blender just to get the wonderful new color. As soon as I opened the box, I was hit was a wave of shock & disappointment. What has happened to Kitchenaid? It looked cheap, felt cheap, had a pathetic plastic pitcher and non-removable blades! I immediately took out my own Kitchenaid blender to compare the two -- NO comparison. The old one has a heavy, sturdy metal base for stability on the counter top and while blending more complex items. The pitcher on mine is heavy duty glass. Mine comes apart entirely for easy cleaning. Raspberry pink or no, the new one is going right back. Thank you Amazon for making me perfectly happy with what I've already got!

2. SUBSTANDARD COMPONENTS
We purchased the kitchenaid blender after reading many reviews about it, unfortunately I feel
the review were probably written by the manufacturer or a kitchenaid employee. The coupler on
the blender lasted the sum of 6 uses before the tips started breaking off. Very poor materials
for such a job that has to put up with high torque and speed. Our last blender was a wedding gift
46 years ago and the only reason we went with a new blender was that I could not purchase the rubber
gasket that sealed the glass container to the base(am going to make my own and send this back to Kitchenaid)
We probably own 5 or 6 other kitchenaid products that are still in use perhaps they made them with
higher quality materials and care 40 or more years ago because what they are selling now are worth
the time to even glance at them. It is really too bad that bottom line has taken over for quality
and pride of product.

I purchcaseed this blender about two weeks ago and have used itt every morning for my green smoothies. I have also used it to blend hot soups and sauces. It works so wonbderfully. I was a little reluctant because of the price, but after readiing the reeviews I purchased and have been pleased. I do not feel like I have ever been so happy with a blender eve!

PROS: fast working, one piece (easy cleaning and does not leak with hot fluids), dishwasher safe. No annoying blender smell at all, blends frozen fruits and ice with ease!

This Stand Mixers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. How Sad
We bought one of these to replace a Kenwood 7qt mixer that was worked to death, on the assumption ( as stated in one of the reviews here) that the Hamilton Beach is a re-branded UK made Kenwood. Nope. The one we received is 'made in China'. Very obvious quality drop from the old one. The Hamilton struggles with a batch of slack ciabatta dough, much less anything stiffer. The hinge on the body is so loose/sloppy that the head assembly shakes from side to side when in use, making it impossible to properly adjust the beaters/hooks. How sad.

We still have the 25+year old 5qt blue and white Kenwood, works great, but he does not see much use because of the smaller capacity.

We do like the big red kill switch on the front of the new Hamilton, and the added handles on the bowl are nice. Since she prefers a tilt head planetary mixer over a drop bowl type like the 7qt Kitchen-aid or smaller Hobart types, I really don't know what to do other than looking for an unused...

2. Fantastic Mixer
WOW! This is a real work horse of a machine. I picked mine up on eBay a few months ago and I couldn't be happier. With 800 watts of power you don't have to worry about thawing butter or handling the thickest of doughs. It includes three attachments heads (wire whisk, dough hook and beater) and they are very sturdy. The steel mixing bowl is sturdy and cleans easily. Controls are simply and it has a great safety cutoff to prevent the machine from operating when the head is tilted back.

Functional and Durable
Hamilton Beach CPM700 Commercial Stand Mixer, Silver I bought this mixer when I had a baking business making about 50 cakes plus many pounds of cookies a week. It is the 4th mixer I bought after I burned through 3 others. Most people don't need to have as large a bowl but if you do, I would recommend this one over the Kitchen Aid and definitely over the Viking I had. Most importantly it has an automatic shut off when the motor gets overheated, which the others do not. It doesn't offer a splatter shield, but it is the exact shape as the Viking so you can order one from that company and it will work fine. The warrantee is not as good as the Kitchen Aid which automatically sends you another within days, but it also is more durable if you are doing some heavy duty baking.

This Stand Mixers give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Simply Fabulous
I've been using this mixer for over one year now and have no complaints. I bake part time and use it almost every single day. Clean up is simple, the glass bowl is gorgeous. I like being able to see if any ingredients are not incorporated. I like to leave it on my counter for my guests to admire, its almost like a decoration. Everyone says how pretty it is.

Definitely worth the price.

UPDATE 1/13/2012: The original silver paddle attachment has tarnished after a short time even though I hand washed it. I found this paddle on Amazon and it is far superior to the one Kitchen Aid provides. It scrapes the bowl so there is no more sticking a spatula in the mix while the mixer is on! It was so amazing, i ordered a second paddle. Best part, you can throw them in the dishwasher. As for the metal paddle from Kitchen Aid...I threw it away without regret!

Mixer still runs perfectly. I've probably used it no less than 300 times in the last two years...

2. KitchenAid Artisan Design Series - A Love Story
I bought this product as an upgrade to my KSM150. I know it's not technically an upgrade, as the motor, size, and function are identical, however, it sure feels like it. The glass bowl, paired with the deep blue and high gloss shine, makes it look more like art than an appliance. It was delivered about 36 hours ago, and I am looking for more ways to use it in my daily cooking. I love the marked measurements on the glass bowl (which is thick, sturdy, and not quite as heavy as Pyrex which is bonus). It seems to run quieter and mix more thoroughly than my old mixer (which was bought in 2007). I should mention my old mixer was just fine, ran great, and I never had one problem with it. I don't have any reason to believe this mixer will not last my holiday baking and general use. I did not need it, however, I had to have it, and now I regret waiting the few weeks I researched and waited to order. I checked all the brands out, as I feel this will be my last stand mixer purchase for quite a...

Gone are the days of quality
If you need all metal gears get this:
KitchenAid KP26M1PSL Professional 600 Series 6-Quart Stand Mixer, Silver

All I wanted was a kitchenaid like my mothers. One that is still alive after 20+ years.

I was given this one. Excited as I went off to the races mixing and beating and cooking.

And then it started in the first 6 months. The locking didnt lock well, the gears began to grind, and the top began popping up and down. Further research showed me that these new artisans are NOT the same and have PLASTIC gears that wear down and begin having issues. Mine is only getting worse with time.
I'm so dissapointed overall, especially considering these come with dough hooks AND I always followed manufacturer recommendations of use.

So if you want to spend a hefty amount for something that will begin it's downward spiral in a year, get this. My advice? Spend the money...
