This Ice Cream Machines give to us some advantages, like this :
1. Clunky machine that makes ice not ice ceam
We love ice cream and would eat it twice a day if we could. This was purchased hoping to replace store bought ice cream, but it's really a cheap substitute to the real thing. The unit itself is oddly shaped and you can tell it's not well made with the seams unevenly put together. I was very surprised but the noise level, loud grinding noise. Also do NOT like the fact that the ice cream bowl is made of cheap aluminum, I am NOT a fan of aluminum products in my food use. When I called the manufacturer about some use and care questions, they were fairly clueless about the product. The kept referring to it as an ice maker. Which is ironic since, the machine does not freeze evenly resulting in a finished product that has lots of icy bits in it. Not what I was hoping for.

2. The wonderful taste of homemade ice cream without the mess
I love homemade ice cream but always hated messing with the ice and rock salt. With this ice cream maker you just mix the ingredients and turn it on for about an hour. The ice cream turns out just as if you'd have cranked an old fashioned maker by hand! The only drawback is that it only makes 1.6 quarts - enough for me and my wife for two or three servings - but I'd have to make some ahead of time if I were entertaining. That's OK - the ice cream comes out the consistency of soft serve and is best after curing for a few hours in the freezer anyway.

1st batch is a success!!
I received my Edgestar and put it to the test right away. I made the vanilla ice cream recipe that is in the owners manuel. It turned out fabulous..so smooth is the texture and the flavor is awesome. Now...what I did wrong...live and learn right? ok..I had read that on ice cream makers..if you freeeze the little bucket..you will have better luck...so...against the makers advice..I stuck the pail in the freezer for about a 1/2 an hour...then...I washed out the inside of the machine...but didnt get it completely dry...the results were that after the ice cream finished it cycle...I was unable to remove the ice creme pail from the machine...duh...the moisture froze to the wall of the pail...note to self***follow instructions...I used warn water to pour around the top oif the pail and it released. I am looking forward to my second batch...and..I will follow the rules this time. This unit is way quieter than I anticipated as well...all in all...buy it..its woth the little higher price..it...
